Writing Authentic Teens: For YA, SF/F, and Any Other Genre You Write In
A Writer’s Workshop with Tom Leveen and Dani Hoots!
Sunday, April 7th at 12:30pm
Come join authors Tom Leveen and Dani Hoots as they discuss how to write teens for all genres. No registration required. Admission is free but we encourage attendees to purchase one of the authors’ books as a courtesy.
Tom Leveen is the author of nine novels with imprints of Random House, Simon & Schuster, Abrams, and Sky Horse. He has published two books on writing and two horror novels.
His novel Hellworld is a Bram Stoker Award finalist. Zero was an ALA/YALSA Best Book of 2013. Sick won the Westchester Fiction Award and the Grand Canyon Reader Award. In addition to several books being translated into Korean and German, he adapted his novel Random into a stage play which then won second place in a German-language script competition.
Tom also enjoyed writing and plotting five issues of the comic book series Spawn with Todd McFarlane.
He hosts a weekly live show, AuthorTomLeveenLive, at facebook.com/authortomleveen, which airs at 8pm MST.
Apropos of absolutely nothing, Tom has also: finished a marathon and a Spartan Sprint, played guitar in punk band (once), earned a blue belt in tae kwon do, studied fencing, kenpo, and aikido, co-hosted a public access television show, been the artistic director of a theatre company and of a mixed-use arts venue, been an early literacy specialist, spent twenty years earning a four-year degree, did a ten-day book tour in Germany for his novel Random, and spent a total of nearly nine years in public library work.
Dani Hoots is a sci-fi, fantasy, and young adult author who loves anything with a story. She is known for her series Daughter of Hades, Last of the Gargoyles, A World of Vampires, and The Sanshlian Series. In her spare time she loves to watch anime, cook, read, travel with her husband, annoy her cats, and enroll in random classes. She is also an herbalist and owns her own apothecary.
